Greg Metcalfe Electrical
The template came off. The Eden Valley went on.
Greg wires farms, homes and workshops across Carlisle, the Eden Valley and south-west Scotland. Solar and battery storage, three-phase, rewires, EV chargers. His old website was a stock template that could have belonged to anyone. The new one could only belong to him.
The site he hadBefore and after. Both are live captures from 9 September 2026.

Jumps while loading
Google's own speed test, 1 September 2026, against the live build. The homepage scored 90 to 95 out of 100 across three phone runs; the solar service page scored 100 across all four categories. 17 pages, no jumps while loading on either page measured.
His domain still points at the previous site while the switch is scheduled. The build above is the permanent address, and the domain carries straight over when it moves.
Six calls that made it
What was decided, and why.
The film comes home down the Eden
An eighteen-second dawn descent over the misty Eden Valley, scrubbed by the scroll, coming to rest where the page asks you to ring. Phones scrub a lighter edition of the same film instead of losing it. His trade is invisible work in a visible landscape, so the landscape carries the film.
Solar leads because he wants it to
The intake question is never what does the business do, it is what does the owner want more of. For Greg that is solar and battery storage, so it leads the services and holds its own place in the menu. His RECC number is printed beside the claim, not a vague badge.
Farms treated as their own audience
Cumbria runs on farms, and a milking parlour without power is not a nuisance, it is an emergency. Farm and commercial three-phase work gets its own page and its own voice. It is written for the person standing in a dark parlour at five in the morning.
Seventeen pages, town by real town
Six service pages and nine area pages, including the ones over the border: Dumfries, Annan, Gretna, Lockerbie. Only places he genuinely covers, each with its own title and its own questions, plus a designed 404.
Emergencies get the loud lane
The phone number lives at the top of every page, and urgent work is told to say so. For a trade where the customer is sometimes standing in the dark, the site's first job is being dialable.
The lesson that built the playbook
This was the first build, and its mistakes became the method. The film direction is now chosen by the client from a menu, before anything is generated. The type was picked from a private page, not assumed. And every build since deploys to a permanent address on day one.
On a desk and in a hand
The same site, both ways.

Each service carries its own page, its own film and its own questions. The solar page, measured on its own, scored 100 across all four categories.
